About the Author
Sondra Sampson is a Lumbee author and storyteller whose work is deeply rooted in healing, identity, and faith. Deaf since 18 months old, she writes with a voice that rises beyond sound through emotion, memory, and spirit.
Her debut books, Signs from the Spirit and The Sign of Victoria, Luski's Silent Girl reflect her personal journey and cultural heritage, blending the supernatural with powerful human truths.
Sondra is the founder of Silent Feather Press, an imprint symbolizing quiet resilience. The gold feather in her logo represents healing, truth, and the wisdom of untold stories bottom.
Born in Laurinburg, North Carolina, Sondra studied at Model Secondary School for the Deaf on Gallaudet University’s campus. She formerly worked as a USPS city carrier before transitioning to full-time writing and publishing. Today, Sondra is a full-time author and founder of Silent Feather Press, where she advocates for Deaf and Native American voices in literature.
I also proudly support H.R. 474 The Lumbee Recognition Act, which would finally bring full federal recognition to our tribe. This bill is not just about policy it’s about dignity, justice, and representation for generations to come, including Deaf Indigenous voices like mine.
Sondra now operates her own official bookstore at www.sondrasampsonbooks.net, publishes under her own copyright and ISBNs, and makes her books available through major retailers and libraries across the U.S. and beyond. Every signed copy she offers carries her signature blessing for healing, strength, and truth.
